Sag Harbor Elementary students learn water safety at local YMCA

Sag Harbor Elementary School first graders recently traded their usual classroom setting for the swimming pool during a physical education visit to the YMCA East Hampton RECenter. During the program, students received hands-on instruction in water safety and basic swimming skills, guided by experienced YMCA staff members.
The YMCA’s water safety curriculum introduced foundational swimming movements and strategies to stay calm, aware and safe in the water — lifelong skills that help build confidence at an early age. The visit also served as a fun and positive experience, reinforcing the idea that learning water safety can be both educational and enjoyable, just in time for the sunny days ahead.
